Recently, Lumileds has signed an agreement with First Brands for First Brands to acquire Lumileds' lighting fixtures and accessories business for $238 million. The sale is expected to be completed in the second quarter of 2024. As part of the acquisition, Lumileds' automotive lighting factories in China, Germany, and Poland will be transferred along with the lighting fixtures and accessories business. Lumileds will retain its factories and facilities in the Netherlands, the United States, Malaysia, Singapore, Germany, and Jiaxing, China.

Recently, a research team in China has made a significant breakthrough in the field of perovskite light-emitting diodes (LEDs). By accelerating the radiative recombination rate and significantly improving the fluorescence quantum efficiency, the external quantum efficiency of perovskite LEDs has surpassed the 30% mark, approaching industrialization levels. The research findings were published in the international academic journal Nature.

Recently, the China Government Procurement Network released the Announcement on the Service Standards for Sampling Inspection Institutions for National Supervision and Sampling Inspection of Product Quality in 2024 (hereinafter referred to as the "Announcement"), involving 139 types of products including electronic appliances, durable consumer goods, etc. Among them, five categories of lighting-related products including fixed general lighting fixtures, portable general lighting fixtures, embedded lighting fixtures, explosion-proof lighting fixtures, and external lighting and optical signaling devices for motor vehicles will become the focus of this year's national supervision and sampling inspection of lighting product quality. Additionally, external lighting and optical signaling devices for motor vehicles are newly added categories of lighting products for this year.

ABB Group announced on May 17th that it has signed an agreement to acquire Siemens' switch and socket business in China. This strategic move aims to expand ABB's market coverage in smart buildings, offering customers a wider range of products. The acquired business includes switches, sockets, smart home systems, smart door locks, and other home automation products, which will continue to be branded under Siemens through a licensing agreement.

In the first quarter of this year, as macroeconomic policies intensified, market demand gradually improved. The industrial production of the lighting industry showed a rebounding trend, with large-scale enterprises in major production areas maintaining continuous improvement in production capacity. Enterprise operations continued to grow, and the export delivery value of large-scale lighting enterprises increased.

From January to April 2024, the total value of China's goods trade import and export amounted to 13.81 trillion yuan, an increase of 5.7% year-on-year. Among them, exports were 7.81 trillion yuan, up 4.9% year-on-year. The trade surplus was 1.81 trillion yuan, narrowing by 0.7%. In April, the global economic growth continued its moderate recovery trend, accompanied by ongoing repair and improvement of market demand, weakening impact of high base effect, and overseas supply tightening. As a result, the export growth of China's lighting products in April rebounded compared to March.
